Graham Center to FIU Students: “A Better World Starts With You”

FIU News recently featured a new piece of art outside the University’s Graham Center (GC) and its relationship to the Global Learning for Global Citizenship initiative.

The display, which was the idea of outgoing GC Executive Director Ruth Hamilton, features the phrases features the phrases “A Better World Starts With Me, A Better World Starts With Us” translated into the top 13 languages spoken by FIU students and flags representing all the nationalities of FIU’s current student population. Each flag’s size is a correlation to the size of that nation’s student population on campus.

Hamilton began her career with the Graham Center in 1979 as Coordinator of Activities, and hoped to promote the Global Learning Initiatives’ three main objectives – global awareness, global perspective and global engagement through the display.
